September 22, 2023 — Three SIGMA lenses have been recognized by the 2023 TIPA World Awards for their respective categories: the SIGMA 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art for Best Wide-Angle Prime Lens; the SIGMA 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary for Best Wide-Angle Zoom Lens; and the SIGMA 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports for Best Superzoom Lens.
TIPA highlighted the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens for its “edge-to-edge sharpness and advanced optical and mechanical design,” citing these features and several others as crucial to the performance of street, landscape, astro, and architectural photography. Released alongside its sister 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens, both full-frame, wide-angle primes were designed with low-light photography in mind, offering specifications meant to help the lens excel in such environments. This praise comes as the second award for the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art lens.
The 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary was praised for its video performance alongside its ability to excel at still photography, marking the 16-28mm as a versatile wide-angle zoom option. TIPA praised the lens for its ability to maintain lens dimensions while zooming, and for its close-focusing capabilities. The unique 16-28mm focal length was designed to compliment SIGMA’s 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary lens, offering a wide-angle companion to the typical workhorse focal length.
SIGMA’s groundbreaking telephoto zoom lens, the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports lens, received recognition for its 10x zoom magnification flexibility. Noted were the lens’s high speed focusing capabilities due to its High-response Linear Actuator motor, and SIGMA’s own OS2 optical stabilizer algorithm, ensuring accurate photographs in even the most challenging of shooting situations.
